Inter owned striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa discussed his experiences at the Nerazzurri and his future, as well as his time with Brazilian club Flamengo, in an interview in today’s paper edition of the Spanish newspaper Diario AS.

“I learned a lot during my time at Inter, even if I had only a few opportunities to show off. I arrived with great motivation, I wanted to show my value, I always worked hard in training, I tried to learn the philosophy of each coach in a new environment. Maybe, with a bit of continuity, my adventure in Nerazzurro would have had a completely different story.”

Barbosa then touched on his growth since leaving Inter on multiple loan spells.

“I’ve always respected the decisions of the coaches, even though I knew I could play more often. Even at Benfica I learned not to lose my smile and to work on myself. Today I’m more mature, and it’s normal that at a young age I could have more difficulty acclimatising myself to a different kind of football from the one I grew up in. But life is made of choices and risks, I have no regrets. I wouldn’t be what I am today.”

The 23-year-old Brazilian striker also spoke about his future.

“The Brazilian league is one of the most fought leagues in the world. Being the top scorer of last season has been very important in my career and I hope to succeed again. It’s the result of how hard I’ve worked, and it shows my evolution as a player. I feel ready to score in Brazil, England, Germany or Spain.”

Finally, Gabigol revealed his admiration for the Spanish league.

“The Spanish League is certainly a league I like, there are world-class teams like Barça, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Seville and Valencia. I follow it, there is a style of rapid football and high technical level.”
