Inter’s Dutch international central defender Stefan de Vrij told Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia that the Nerazzurri were not affected by Juventus’ defeating Atalanta before playing Torino.
“We don’t reason in that manner, we only think about our own matches and we did well to win it deservedly without once finding ourselves in trouble.”
The former Lazio man spoke to the the TV channel after the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 win away at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino yesterday which wasn’t aired until earlier today, where he revealed that his goal was straight off the training ground.
“We have trained on hitting the corner like that. Cristiano [Biraghi] hit it really well and that was enough for me to put the ball in the back of the net.”
In conclusion de Vrij praised the impact coach Antonio Conte has had on the Nerazzurri since taking over the reigns at the club from Luciano Spalletti this past June.
“Conte has instilled a lot of passion and a will to win, a winning mentality in short. We all want to follow him and we are doing so. We are doing everything we can to do well on the pitch and we were able to do so [yesterday].”
