Inter midfielder Borja Valero discussed the Nerazzurri’s tense 1-1 draw against Fiorentina in the Serie A last night shortly after the final whistle with Italian broadcaster RAI.

“We always have to improve and do better to bring home the points, a pity they didn’t arrive today. The Champions League? We left it behind to focus on this game. Juventus? We have to be sure to play game to game, we want to fight to the end.”

The Nerazzurri have now failed to win in three games in a row across all competitions, allowing Juventus to close the gap at the top of the league table.

Whilst the Milanese club are still top of the league, they are now only ahead of Juventus due to their superior goal difference, putting more pressure on coach Antonio Conte and the squad to achieve a win against Genoa next weekend.

The Nerazzurri’s failure to qualify for the knockout rounds of the Champions League will allow them to focus more heavily on the league compared to their Turin based rivals.
