Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa’s wage demands are holding up a potential permanent switch to Flamengo according to a report from Italian news agency ANSA.

The Rio de Janeiro based club are understood to already have a deal in place with Inter but need the 23-year-old striker to drop his salary demands in order to be able to complete the move. As per the report, Flamengo have offered Inter €16 million for 80% of Gabigol’s registration rights.

The report goes on to explain that due to this obstacle, Flamengo have began looking around at alternatives in the event they cannot get a deal done for Gabigol who scored 43 goals in 58 appearances for them whilst on loan with them last year.

Fiorentina’s Pedro is believed to be one player under consideration. The 22-year-old joined La Viola this past Summer but has been limited to just four first team appearances – all of which have come as a substitute – across all competitions this season.
