After selling Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa, Inter will use the money raised through his sale to go in for Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.
Gabigol has interest in his services from both Flamengo and West Ham United and Inter look set to earn at least €16 million but possibly a sum in excess of €20 million for the 23-year-old striker, which would make all the difference in the pursuit for Eriksen.
Eriksen’s contract with the north London club is set to expire at the end of the season but Inter wish to bring him in in January if possible.
The reason for this is because none of the other reportedly interested clubs in Real Madrid, Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain want to pay anything for him when they can get him for nothing in six months time.
Waiting until the Summer will only make things harder for Inter who may struggle to compete with the wages those above can offer.
Spurs want €20 million for Eriksen and his agent his expected to command between €4-5 million in commission but Inter feel that this is a fair amount for a player of his calibre and bringing him in in January would help with amortisation.
