Inter are leading the race to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud this month according to a report from British newspaper The Telegraph.
The veteran French forward has fallen out of favour at the blues this season and seemingly wants out in order to get more playing time elsewhere ahead of this Summer’s EURO 2020, a tournament which he hopes to play a part of.
Premier League duo Aston Villa and Newcastle as well as Bordeaux are all also understood to have shown a keen interest in bringing in Giroud but the 33-year-old wishes to join Inter as it will mean he will be reunited with former manager Antonio Conte.
As per the report, Inter are ready to pay £2.5 million (approximately €3 million) to complete the signing of the former Arsenal striker, who has been limited to just seven appearances across all competitions this season.
The report also goes on to state that Chelsea are not interested in signing Inter’s Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa, contrary to other reports doing the rounds in the media.
