Samir Handanovic is working with a specialist to see if he can try and recover in time for this weekend’s Milan derby according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper, who is Inter’s club captain, did not play in yesterday’s 2-0 win away to Udinese due to an injury to his hand, which Inter have since clarified is a hairline fracture to one of his fingers.

Reports elsewhere in the media have suggested that the Slovenian international could be facing a few weeks to a month out of action but that will seemingly not stop him from trying to make it for Sunday’s match against AC Milan.

Handanovic, who has been with Inter since a Summer of 2012 move from Udinese, has been almost ever present this season for Antonio Conte’s side having appeared in all barring one of the team’s 30 competitive matches across all competitions.

The report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to state that if Handanovic is unable to recover in time, Daniele Padelli will once again be given the nod to start in between the sticks.
