Napoli have made an offer for Brescia starlet Sandro Tonali, who is also targeted by Inter and Juventus, but were told that it was too low, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Naples based newspaper Il Mattino.
The report details how Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis met with Brescia president and friend Massimo Cellino many times in both January and at the beginning of February, with the focus being on the 19-year-old Italian midfielder. De Laurentiis offered around €45 million for the player, comprised of bonuses and add-ons.
Cellino refused the offer, the report continues, as he wants at least €80 million for Tonali. The player’s agents have spoke to Napoli many times, but it’s clear that the Brescia president has total control.
If the €80 million request is serious, then it’s likely that Tonali will join a Spanish or English club instead of an Italian one, due to the incredibly high demands that cannot be met by Italian sides.
If the demand should drop, Napoli are one of many clubs waiting, the report continues. Juventus, AC Milan and Inter all appreciate Tonali and are likely to fight for his signature in the summer transfer window. Due to this competition, De Laurentiis is also keen on Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli.
