After the Bologna game, Beppe Marotta and Antonio Conte gave the team a dressing down in the locker room. Every Inter fan expected a team breathing fire and that’s what Conte expected too.

What we got was a team that was as cold as coffee that was left on the table for 2 hours. It took 120 seconds for Verona to score and Inter spent the first half trying to get to grips. The second half was much better and Inter managed to stage a comeback thanks to Candreva and with some luck.

Even Godin looked good and just as Interisti were about to sit back and enjoy 3 days of peace, Rrahmani ran through the midfield and setup Veloso for the gut punch. Another 2 points dropped as Inter a limping to the Champions League next season.

Samir Handanovic – 4.5: Too easy for Lazovic to score past him and Samir will be the first one to agree. Conceded both his shots on target and looked woeful on the ball.

Diego Godin – 6.5: Godin has been poor this season but didn’t have much trouble in the first half. Absolutely bossed the second half and showed his ability and experience.

Stefan de Vrij – 5.5 : Not much space and time for Stefan on the ball today. He struggled to have an impact going forward and their attacks were from the sides. Tired?

Milan Skriniar – 5: Shocking start from Skriniar, especially after a 3-match ban. Struggled throughout the game and didn’t combine or communicate well with Candreva.

Antonio Candreva – 6.5: Remember when Candreva was known for his defensive play. That part of the game has gone, but his attacking instincts almost got Inter 3 points.

Marcelo Brozovic – 5: Verona shut him down from the first minute. When the conductor of the opera is off his beat, the music will be terrible. Never got into the game.

Roberto Gagliardini – 5.5: Always second to the ball and in a rush in the first half. Then a great move to help Inter get in the lead before letting Rrahmani waltz through. Poor.

Ashley Young – 6: The ball never reached the left side that much in the first half. Wasn’t involved much but still created 3 chances by himself. Not a “Happy” Birthday.

Borja Valero – 5.5: A couple of poor shots, but he never stopped running from the start. The final ball was a bit late as has been the case recently. Too tired by the end

Lukaku – 6.5 : The only player who had success in the first half with holding up possession. Kumbulla was busy all night. Deserved a goal, hopefully not injured.

Alexis Sanchez – 6: Not the quality he has shown recently especially at the start. Slowly grew into the game but when Lukaku came off the lack of understanding showed.

Matias Vecino – 5.5: Same old Vecino, quantity and running but no quality on the ball or off it. Only brought on because Brozovic was frustrated and couldn’t run at all.

Lautaro Martinez – 5: In 15 minutes or so he could have scored. It’s good to be selfish but after that run, he needed to find Sanchez to make sure of the points. Still not there.

Christian Eriksen – N/A: Must not be a good feeling when you are brought on in the 88th minute especially after being praised to the sky by the coach and the CEO recently.

Antonio Conte – 4. : Conte’s teams never start a match that poorly. Half time talk worked till the usual mistake at the end cost points. Shockingly poor use of the bench.

Massimiliano Irrati – 4: Not sure how Amrabat managed to stay on. The other bookings were far too soft. The inconsistency is why it is impossible to rate Italian referees highly.

Inter – 4.5: Poor reaction to Conte after the Bologna result.Then they put their heads together to comeback in a difficult stadium only to let Inter fans down again.
