If it were solely down to Inter manager Antonio Conte, Christian Eriksen would be sold or used as a bargaining chip in a deal for another player according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

The Danish national team attacking midfielder arrived at the club in the most recent January transfer window but Conte would have preferred for a player like Arturo Vidal, who is the prototype midfielder for his system, to be signed instead.

Conte decided to change from his 3-5-2 system to a 3-4-1-2 in a bid to get more out of Eriksen and was re-paid in the first two times the system was used and Eriksen played in his natural role.

The former Ajax player’s performances have however dipped since then and he has even lost his place in the starting XI to 35-year-old Borja Valero.

The report from the Turin based news outlet goes on to explain that the coming month will be decisive for Eriksen and depending on how this goes, at the end of the season former Italian national team boss Conte and club management could decide his fate.
