AC Milan central midfielder Franck Kessie has dismissed recent media speculation that he could have left the club back in the January transfer window.
Kessie drew links to Inter back in January and reports at the time suggested a possible swap deal between the two Milanese clubs could have taken place but in the end nothing happened and Kessie remained.
“Was I close to leaving in January? Only journalists thought this, not me and the club. No one, from the president to the coach, told me to leave. I will respect my contract until the end,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia yesterday afternoon.
Since the season has gotten back underway, Kessie has performed well and this has led to yet more speculation in the media regarding his future.
Reports in recent weeks have linked the Ivorian national team player with a potential departure with it understood that Inter are once again interested and Napoli are also keen on signing him.
This season Kessie has made 33 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and provided two assists for his teammates.
