Inter coach Antonio Conte may deploy Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella in a trequartista role behind Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez in the match against Roma tonight, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The report details how the 23-year-old Italian midfielder, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, trained with the squad regularly yesterday and has seemingly fully recovered from the hamstring injury that has kept him out of the squad for the last four games. Conte could deploy Barella behind the attacking duo of Lautaro and Sanchez, as Christian Eriksen will start tonight’s game on the bench.
Barella has made 33 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2365 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided six assists, being noted for his strong work rate and attacking threat when on and off the ball.
