The match against Sampdoria is the main reason for Inter’s schedule being what it has been since the 2019/20 Serie A season resumed according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Prior to the rest of the sides returning to action, Inter had a game to catch up on against Sampdoria and Lega Serie A have told Inter this is the main reason.

However, the Turin based news outlet explain that there is a flaw to this as Atalanta, who played Sassuolo on the same day as Inter, have not had such a harsh schedule.

The Bergamo based club have in fact had three matches where they have had more rest than their opponents whilst Inter have not hard more rest in any of their eight matches and had less rest in five of their eight matches.

The report also highlights the fact that between match days 28 and 33 Inter always played prior to Juventus and Lazio whilst between match days 34 and 37 they always play after their fellow title chasers.
