European football’s governing body UEFA have given Inter the green light to return to Italy prior to the Europa League quarter final, should they make it there according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspapr Corriere dello Sport.
Inter are due to take on Spanish side Getafe in a one legged match in the last 16 on August 5, the winner of whom will face the winners of the match between Rangers and Bayern Leverkusen.
The quarter final is due to take place on August 10 and whilst UEFA would have preferred Inter to stay in Germany, where the remainder of the tournament is to be carried out, Inter will return to Italy in between the matches, should they get past Getafe.
Should Inter beat Getafe and then Rangers or Bayer Leverkusen, they could face one of Shakhtar Donetsk, Wolfsburg, Basel and Eintracht Frankfurt in the semi finals.
The likes of Manchester United are potential opponents who Inter could face in the final on August 21.
