Inter manager Antonio Conte has reiterated his and the team’s desire to finish the season as best as possible and has revealed his belief that tomorrow night’s match tomorrow evening against Genoa will be a tough one.

“It is certainly a different experience than in the past because we are playing at high temperatures and it is inevitable that the schedule had to be compressed to allow us to finish this season,” he remarked in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV, ahead of tomorrow evening’s clash.

“It is a new experience that we hope we will not have to repeat, we will bring our experiences learned this season with us to next year.”

Next Conte, who was appointed as Inter manager this past Summer, spoke on how he has prepared for the match against the Rossoblu, who have won each of their past two matches.

“I think we have to look at ourselves and try to finish the season in the best way possible. We have studied Genoa, we have to think about ourselves and rotate because when you play every two days you waste a lot of energy. The important thing is to focus on what we can do and have respect for the opponent.”

The former Italian national team boss then went on to discuss how he intends to deal with the absences of suspended Nicolo Barella and injured Stefan de Vrij.

“I am forced to rotate but at the same time it is inevitable to alternate the players because fatigue will otherwise be felt.

“In training that the pace is slower and it is like this for everyone. The training loads are now negligible. You have to be good at not putting physical and mental burdens on the players, in order to look to prepare the match tactically.”

Next he was asked whether January transfer window recruit Christian Eriksen is becoming more and more central to his plans and he also spoke on what the Danish national team attacking midfielder needs to keep on doing.

“You know that I do not like speaking on individuals but Christian had a good match against Fiorentina, especially in the first half.

“He is trying to do his best and we want to keep him in the best condition because now he is at the centre of how we play.”

“In the non-possession phase he has the freedom to move between the lines, he can do whatever he wants. He must continue to work in a serious and constant way as he has been doing then the results will come.”

Conte was then asked what he expects the team’s upcoming Europa League match with Getafe to be like.

“I think that first of all there is a difference because we will play on August 8, the rest after 10 and therefore they will have more time to recover their players. They are different situations, we will arrive at the match and we will arrive in the Europa League stretched, continuing this burdened path we are on in terms of workload.”

In conclusion the 50-year-old, who is under contract with Inter until 2022, spoke on what he has made of Genoa’s recent performances as they fight to avoid relegation to Serie B.

“Nicola is a very good coach who has done down very well in the Genoa environment, he is doing well and I am happy because he is a young guy.

“I think the club wanted to increase the experience that they had in January, they are fighting to not be relegated. It will be a tough game for us and we will go there with the aim of continuing our growth process and to finish in the best way. We go with the ambition to get the three points.”
