Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is hoping to continue his incredible debut season with the Nerazzurri, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The report details how the 27-year-old Belgian striker signed for the Nerazzurri a year ago today, for a record-breaking fee for the Milanese club. Since then, he has become irreplaceable for coach Antonio Conte, scoring 30 goals across all competitions so far this season. The player was signed to replace Argentine forward Mauro Icardi and after 12 months has surely convinced the fans that Icardi is not to be missed.
Lukaku is alongside some of Inter’s top stars like Diego Milito and Samuel Eto’o regarding his goal scoring ability, the report continues, and is in the running to help the Nerazzurri win their first trophy since 2011. The former Manchester United striker would break Milito’s 30 goal tally in the Treble winning season if he scores against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League. He could also overtake English striker Alan Shearer, who scored in eight consecutive Europa League games with Newcastle in 2005.
