Inter central defender Stefan de Vrij has shared his delight with Inter’s resounding 5-0 win in last night’s Europa League semi final against Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk.

Lautaro Martinez opened the scoring for Inter with a header during the first half and Inter went into half time with a 1-0 lead to their name. Danilo D’Ambrosio doubled the lead then Lautaro trebled it. Romelu Lukaku rounded off the Nerazzurri’s scoring at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany, with a brace of his own.

“It wasn’t that easy but still we did so well tonight [yesterday]. We can be very happy,” he explained in an interview with tournament organisers and European football’s governing body, UEFA, which was shared on UEFA’s Italian Twitter feed.

This season the Dutch national team player has made 45 appearances across all competitions to date this term, in which he has scored four goals and provided five assists.

Inter are due to face Sevilla in the Europa League final this coming Friday with kick-off at FC Koln’s RheinEnergieSTADION scheduled for 21:00 local time.
