Inter will reward Nicolo Barella with a new contract at the end of the season according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Barella has starred in his first campaign following his arrival from fellow Serie A club Cagliari and he will be handed a one year contract extension which will extend his contract with the club until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Extending Barella’s deal will have more than just the obvious benefit of having him contracted for longer the report from the Roma based news outlet goes on to explain. By signing him to a new contract, the annual amortisation rate will be lowered.

This season the Italian national team player has made 40 appearances across all competitions to date. During his time on the park, which totals just shy of 3000 minutes, Barella has scored four goals and provided a total of eight assists for his teammates.
