Barcelona have wasted no time in responding to Lionel Messi’s fax in which he communicated his decision that he would like to leave according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet Sport.
The report explains that the Blaugrana club have replied to Messi and told him that the deadline for the clause he wishes to invoke to free himself was May 30.
Barcelona hope to be able to solve the situation and keep the Argentine national team player at the club, even if it will be very complicated to do so.
The Catalan based club are adamant that the deadline was the end of May whilst Messi’s entourage believe he had a period of one week following the Champions League final to make a decision.
The report goes on to explain that Barcelona have zero intention of selling the 33-year-old superstar, who has spent his entire career with the club, and will point any interested clubs in the direction of his €700 million release clause.
Barcelona consider Messi to be absolutely non-transferable even though it will certainly be difficult to retain a player who no longer feels comfortable in the club’s project.
