It cannot be ruled out that Barcelona will make another attempt to sign Lautaro Martinez according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
Lautaro’s agents were expected in Milan but first stopped off in Barcelona and it is plausible that this was an obligatory step for them before sitting down with Inter management to discuss their client’s Inter future.
It is possible that Barcelona could be planning on making a last attempt to sign Lautaro. Inter have already made things clear with regard to their demands.
The Nerazzurri club want €80-90 million in cash for the 23-year-old striker and that is even before considering a technical counterpart in a deal.
Junior Firpo is a name that has been suggested as a counterpart for some time but he hardly shifts the balance of the negotiation. He could however arrive at Inter on a loan basis.
The report concludes that in the event Barcelona are unable to get a deal done now, Lautaro renewing his contract with Inter would be almost automatic.
