Romelu Lukaku has shared his delight and gratitude after being named the MVP for the 2019/20 edition of the Europa League this afternoon.

The Inter and Belgian national team striker made six Europa League appearances last term, in which he scored seven goals and provided two assists for his teammates.

Inter reached the Europa League final but lost out to Sevilla 3-2, with their third goal coming as a result of an unfortunate own goal from Lukaku.

“First of all, I thank God for allowing me to come this far, to do the job I love, to play for the team I have loved since childhood. I want to congratulate Sevilla on their achievement,” he explained to European football’s governing body UEFA during the broadcast of the Europa League group stage draw.

“I thank my mum, my brother, all the people around me, my agency, Roc Nation Sports for the support. I want to thank Antonio Conte, all his staff and all those who work for the club and the President Steven Zhang for the trust they have had in me and for helping me this season and finally I want to thank all my teammates, for me they are like brothers, we are a real family.

“Every day when I go to train I do it with a smile and it is because they are there and help me to work hard and to give my best, so thank you guys for everything you do for me and I hope that this year we will do even better than what we did last season and that we will share many successes together. Thank you all!”

Lukaku joined Inter in the Summer of 2019 from Manchester United in a €65 million deal, a deal which makes him the most expensive Inter player in club history.

Since joining the club, the 27-year-old has made 53 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored a sensational 37 goals and tallied six assists for his teammates.
