Lautaro Martinez is seriously thinking about a contract renewal with Inter according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Argentine national team striker appeared set for a transfer to Barcelona but Inter managed to retain the highly rated 23-year-old and they too are thinking about giving Lautaro a new and improved deal.

Lautaro would like to become one of the highest players in the squad alongside Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Christian Eriksen, who all receieve at least €7 million a year.

Inter have a different view on things and would rather Lautaro’s salary rises to that amount over the duration of the contract than go up to that immediately. Inter are thinking about offering him €5 million, plus add-ons, a year in the beginning.

The parties also want to get things done quickly in order to avoid things becoming dragged out and potentially impacting Lautaro, who has three goals in as many games this term, on the field.
