Lautaro Martinez will spearhead Argentina’s attacking trident in their upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifying match against Ecuador later on this week according to a report from the online edition of Argentine news outlet Olé.

The highly rated 23-year-old Inter striker will be at the centre of the trident and he will have Barcelona’s Lionel Messi on one side of him and Sevilla’s Lucas Ocampos on the other side.

Lautaro has made a great start to the recently started 2020/21 Serie A season with him scoring three goals in as many games and also providing a single assist for his Nerazzurri teammates.

Lautaro has made 17 appearances across all competitions for the Argentine national team during his career and he will undoubtedly be out to continue his fine goalscoring return. In his time representing the Albiceleste, he has scored nine goals.

Argentina and Ecuador are due to face off on Thursday night at Boca Juniors’ La Bombanera stadium.
