Inter’s owners Suning have made a promise to Inter manager Antonio Conte that if he guides Inter to the knockout stages of the Champions League he will receieve a reward in the shape of a new signing according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.
Conte had requested the signing of another wing-back in the final few days of the transfer window but the club did not sign a new wing-back. If Conte succeeds in taking Inter to the knockout stages, which is certainly not an impossible task, he will be rewarded with a new wing-back.
Should Inter bring in a new left wing-back, Ashley Young could become a wildcard for Conte and could be used on either side. If Ivan Perisic manages to convince in his new role of left wing-back though, Conte could well opt for a new right wing-back instead.
Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri were both linked to Inter strongly during the transfer window and the report states that it is easy to imagine that one of them would be allowed to leave Chelsea in January due to them both being behind Ben Chilwell in the pecking order.
