Inter owned forward Sebastiano Esposito discussed the postponement of the Under 21 clash between Iceland and Italy in an interview with Italian broadcaster Rai Sport earlier today.

“Coronavirus is definitely an experience that will make us grow. We won’t know what to do until the end of things, maybe we should go and play with the other Under 21 teams.

“But, as I’ve always said, it’s always a source of pride to be on the national team, wearing the Azzurri shirt. We will be ready for games or for a possible competition with the Under 21’s. It is always a pleasure to play for Italy.”

The 18-year-old Esposito, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2025, has been sent out on loan to Serie B side SPAL, in order to achieve regular playing time and experience. So far this season he has made two appearances, including scoring a penalty in a Coppa Italia win over Bari.

The Italian teenager was promoted to the first team by coach Antonio Conte last summer, after impressing in the pre-season training camp. He went on to make 15 appearances across all competitions for the first team, for a total of 318 minutes.

One goal was scored in that time, a penalty gifted to him by mentor Romelu Lukaku in a 4-0 win over Genoa. Esposito recently made his debut for the Italy Under 21 squad, after making three appearances at Under 19 level.
