Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia journalist and transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Inter manager Antonio Conte was fully on board with the way Inter went about conducting their incoming transfer business in the recently closed Summer transfer window.
Inter spent no less than €45 million, including add-ons, to bring in highly rated wing-back Achraf Hakimi from Real Madrid early on in the transfer window but then spent very little money after that in the window in which they also managed to bring Arturo Vidal, Aleksandar Kolarov and Matteo Darmian to the club from Barcelona, Roma and Parma respectively.
“The plans were shared between Conte and the management in an economically difficult moment for everyone and a transfer market needing to be conducted at no cost,” Di Marzio explained whilst present in the studios of Sky Sport Italia, late last night.
“Hakimi arrived before Covid and having spent big on him, the other operations were done at no cost. Conte absolutely shared the plans, he understood that the club had difficulties but experienced players he wanted, like Vidal, arrived.”
The much respected Di Marzio also touched upon the returns of Radja Nainggolan and Ivan Perisic, both of whom spent the duration of last season out on loan at Cagliari and Bayern Munich respectively.
“They are two players who have everything to be decisive in important games. They are like two purchases.”
