Parma attacker Gervinho has revealed in a recent interview that he was in fact close to joining Inter in the most recent Summer transfer window.
Near the end of the transfer window, Inter drew links to the Ivorian forward with many reports at the time claiming that Inter were exploring the possibility of a swap deal with the Ducali club that would have involved Gervinho and young Inter striker Andrea Pinamonti.
“I was close to signing with Inter, a club to respect, but I am not disappointed. I am happy to stay at Parma,” he explained in an interview with Talent d’Afrique, as quoted by Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.
The former Arsenal and Roma player went on to explain: “The club relies a lot on me and I am fine here. If I had played for Inter it would have been an advantage for me and for my career, but that’s okay. Being in the Nerazzurri’s sights was an honour for me.”
Gervinho joined Parma in the Summer of 2018 from Chinese outfit Hebei China Fortune. The 33-year-old, who is under contract with them until 2022, has made 65 appearances across all competitions to date for them, in which he has scored 20 goals and tallied seven assists.
This term Gervinho has made three appearances but he has failed to make any goal contributions in his time on the park.
