Inter are to re-test Achraf Hakimi for COVID-19 in the hope that his positive test result was an anomaly according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter were informed at 5pm yesterday by UEFA of Hakimi’s positive test result for COVID-19, just hours before they began their 2020/21 Champions League group stage campaign at home to Borussia Monchengladbach, which finished 2-2.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to explain that Inter will test him again and if he is positive, he will remain in quarantine, which started yesterday.

If he returns a negative test result this time round, he will be tested again to confirm whether he is positive or negative.

Inter are fearful for the rest of the team seeing as Hakimi had been training and in close contact with his teammates. The entire team will be tested today off the back of Hakimi’s positive test result and it now remains to be seen if any other players are to test positive for COVID-19.

The test results of the most recent tests of Roberto Gagliardini and Ionut Andrei Radu are due back today and Inter manager Antonio Conte is hopeful of them coming back negative.

Ashley Young and Milan Skriniar will be re-tested today.

Even if any of these players test negative, the report goes on to conclude that none of them will be able to play against Genoa from the first minute.
