Inter attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen has told his fans that they must ask Inter manager Antonio Conte as to why he does not play that much at Inter.
The 28-year-old joined Inter back in the January transfer window from Tottenham Hotspur but has struggled to perform to expectations and over half of his appearances in an Inter shirt have come as a substitute.
“Why don’t I play? Call and ask Conte. You have to call and ask the coach, because it’s his decision,” the Danish national team player explained bluntly in a question and answer session set up by the Danish football association, as quoted by Danish news outlet Bold.dk.
He proceeded to share his understanding that in football there are periods in a player’s career when things go up and down.
“In football it goes up and down a lot, it is only for the few that it always goes up. I’ve gotten better at shutting down, because everyone has an opinion. Especially when I have now moved to Italy, where everyone has an opinion. It’s about trusting those you have close to you and shutting off the rest.”
Since his arrival at Inter on a four and a half year contract, the former Ajax player, has made 32 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and provided three assists for his teammates.
