Parma forward Gervinho was close to joining Inter in the recent transfer window, before the deal fell through, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 33-year-old Ivorian forward, who is contracted to the Emilian side until 2022, was incredibly close to signing for the Nerazzurri.

Agreements had been made and virtual hand shakes had taken place, but there were problems that caused the deal to collapse, including Inter not being able to make space in the squad for the former Arsenal forward.

Gervinho explained the situation recently in an interview with the newspaper, saying: “I was very close to Inter. It would have been a high jump for my career, but I have no regrets, Parma are counting on me, and I am fine in Parma.”

The 33-year-old Ivorian made 32 appearances across all competitions last season for Parma, for a total of 2357 minutes. In that time, he scored nine goals and provided four assists.
