Noted Italian football journalist Paolo Condo has admitted that he expected to see more from Inter wing-back Achraf Hakimi following on from the defender’s mistake in last night’s Champions League group stage loss to Real Madrid.
The Moroccan national team player joined Inter in the most recent Summer transfer window from Real Madrid in a deal worth a total of €45 million, including add-ons.
Hakimi starrred in his first two games in which he notched a goal and two assists but in the time since he has not been able to perform to the same level and was at fault for Real Madrid’s opening goal last night as he made a poor back-pass which was capitalise on by Karim Benzema.
“He is making mistakes in the Champions League, I expected a lot more from him. The season has just begun and he can still recover. Last year he was relentless in front of goal, even against Inter. At Dortmund he was a god,” Condo explained whilst present in studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, earlier on today.
Since joining Inter, who he is contracted to until the end of the 2024/25 season, the newly turned 22-year-old has made eight appearances, in which he has one goal and two assists.
