Noted Italian football journalist and known Inter fan Fabrizio Biasin has shared his belief that Antonio Conte is the first person to be unhappy with how things are going right now at Inter although does not think that he would admit it.
Inter have not started the 2020/21 season how they were expected to with them picking up just three wins from their first 10 matches across all competitions to date.
Following yesterday’s draw away to Atalanta, Inter have now won just one of their last eight games across all competitions and have more often than not left a lot to be desired with their performances during these matches.
“Is Conte’s the right way? It is certainly the right one. The problem is that there is no other path and this does not look like Conte’s Inter. It is a different Inter from last season,” Biasin explained whilst present on Italian broadcaster Italia 1 show ‘Pressing’ earlier on today.
“This is a very different Inter, which plays their games well but the one with Atalanta not very well. They do not have the spirit of Conte. I do not give up on the wine or coffee, I go my own way.
“They prepare a lot for the games but this team always lets their opponents back into the game so their is something wrong.
“Conte cannot be happy with an Inter who have won only one match in their last eight, they are a team made to win. I know it’s a path, but the first not to be happy is him. Whether he says it or not.”
Biasin was then asked about the former Juventus and Italian national team manager’s decisions with regard to substitutions in the match in Bergamo.
“Conte did what a coach does, he tries to change when things go wrong. The substitutions of Conte are elementary, they are not Conte substitutions. I think he should make more of an impact when the game gets complicated, but he isn’t doing it.”
Next Biasin was asked whether or not he expected to see Radja Nainggolan or Christian Eriksen come on: “I was in Bergamo and I thought, ‘Can someone who played in the final of CL be granted ten minutes?’ Everyone came on and one of the Premier League’s best midfielders was watching the others.”
In conclusion he was asked if the referee was right to not award either side a penalty during the game at the Gewiss Stadium.
“Can I abstain? For me, D’Ambrosio’s is a penalty but I trust the video review, very much so.”
