Italy’s three biggest daily sports newspapers have been unanimous in their assessment that Danilo D’Ambrosio’s performance for Italy in their 4-0 international friendly win over Estonia last night was sufficient.
The Inter defender was deployed at centre back for the match at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, a role he has often found himself playing at Inter despite naturally being a right back.
Gazzetta dello Sport have handed the former Torino defender a six out of 10 rating for his performance in Florence and had the following to say about his efforts: “All in all playing it was the right choice. Only one difficult moment, when he uses his ‘hands’ to stop an opponent. The rest is business as usual.”
Corriere dello Sport also gave the 32-year-old the same rating and said this about his performance: “With the tactical sensitivity he is equipped with, he changes position and system without suffering consequences.”
Tuttosport joined both Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport in giving D’Ambrosio a 6/10 rating: “Adapted to play as the right centre back in the back four, there was some difficulty when approaching the opponent especially in duels in the open. When his timing was wrong he had to resort to handle the ball but on the whole it fits well.”
D’Ambrosio, who joined Inter in the January transfer window of the 2013/14 season, has made eight appearances across all competitions to date for Inter, in which he has scored two goals.
