Simone Verdi is the favourite to start alongside Andrea Belotti for Torino against Inter this weekend according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
As things stand, the former Bologna and Napoli player has a slight advantage over his competitition for the starting jersey alongside Granata captain Belotti.
Verdi has started Torino’s last five matches across all competitions and has two goal and as many assists from the games in which he started.
18 time Italian national team representative Simone Zaza is also in the running to start with Belotti at San Siro as are former Inter youth player Federico Bonazzoli and Vincenzo Millico.
Marco Giampaolo’s Torino head into this weekend’s round of Serie A action sitting just outside of the relegation zone due to having a better goal difference than Genoa. Torino have picked up just five points from a possible 21 available to them and have won just once so far this season.
