Italian journalist and transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio spoke about the situation surrounding Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen whilst speaking with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.
“I was in Germany recently and I had the opportunity to see even better Conte’s evaluation of the player. He is certainly a valuable player, but doesn’t have the temperament and character needed for the coach.
“The management have been aware of this for a long time, they’re now looking for the best solution for both sides. In the last transfer window, the management were not open to a possible loan deal, but in January will look for the best solution, whether that’s a loan, exchange or transfer.
“Eriksen’s adventure with Inter, in any case, is in the final stages.”
The 28-year-old Eriksen, who is contracted to the Milanese club until 2024, has not adapted to coach Antonio Conte’s system since joining from Premier League side Tottenham in the January transfer window, in a deal worth around €20 million.
This season, the former Spurs man has made 10 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 310 minutes. Since the last international break, the Dane has only played 10 minutes.
Yesterday Eriksen was brought on by Conte in the final minutes of the 3-1 win over Bologna, and after the final whistle he quickly disappeared into the dressing room, without celebrating with his teammates.
The 28-year-old Danish midfielder seems destined to leave the club in the upcoming January transfer window, with French side Paris Saint-Germain previously linked and a return to the Premier League possible.
