Whilst AC Milan look highly likely to be crowned Winter champions in Serie A, the race for the actual title is still open according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Rossoneri currently hold a five point lead over second placed Inter and for the title itself the report goes on to insist that much will depend on what happens in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Milan based news outlet goes on to highlight that part of the reason Inter find themselves behind their city rivals is Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen has struggled since arriving at Inter in the January transfer window from Tottenham Hotspur and Inter manager Antonio Conte changed his system in the early part of this season in a bid to change the Dane’s fortunes but in the end this only ended up being a waste of time and hurt Inter, who struggled to play with a different system, the report continues.

Conte has returned to the 3-5-2 system that served Inter so well last season and now they appear to be back on track.
