With Inter’s elimination from the Champions League earlier this week, the team’s main goal is now to focus on winning the league title.
A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has analysed the three things needed to help the Nerazzurri achieve that goal.
The report details how the Milanese club need to score more team goals, as currently the majority of goals have been scored by forwards Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.
Goals need to come from other departments, like the midfield, in order to more consistently find the back of the net.
The second thing needed is for some players to take the step up mentally, the report continues. One example of this is Dutch defender Stefan de Vrij, who has seemed stuck at times and has made some uncharacteristic mistakes.
Should he return to his best, it would help secure the Nerazzurri’s defense even further, considering the strengths of partner Milan Skriniar, who is playing well this campaign.
The final thing needed to improve upon Inter’s Serie A campaign would be some work on the transfer market, the report highlights.
Matias Vecino and Radja Nainggolan are likely to leave in the upcoming January transfer window, and midfield reinforcements would strengthen the squad as a whole and give Conte more options.
Christian Eriksen will only leave the club if there’s concrete offers. In the meantime, he’ll try to impress, potentially as early as tomorrow’s clash against Cagliari, where he could start.
