Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is hoping to make up for his mistake against Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this week in the league clash against Cagliari tomorrow, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The report details how the 27-year-old Belgian striker, who is contracted to the Milanese club until 2024, blocked a goal bound header from Alexis Sanchez in the dying minutes of the Nerazzurri’s painful 0-0 draw with Shakhtar on Wednesday this week.
The moment resembles a similar mistake by the Belgian in the Europe League final against Sevilla last campaign, where he accidentally scored an own goal in the dying minutes by diverting a shot that was heading wide.
Lukaku is not afraid of criticism and believes in the team’s chances to fight for the league title this season.
The former Manchester United forward wants to add to his trophy cabinet, which is currently only occupied by a league title with Anderlecht and an FA Cup with Chelsea.
Lukaku wants to work towards this goal starting from tomorrow’s game against Cagliari. Across the league and Coppa Italia last season, the Belgian scored three goals against the Rossoblu.
