Inter coach Antonio Conte is obligated to win the league title this campaign after the team’s disappointing exit from the Champions League, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The report details how the 51-year-old Italian coach has a history of performing poorly internationally but dominating domestically, seen by his trophy cabinet.
Conte won three league titles with Juventus and one with Chelsea, but he’s failed to progress past the quarter finals of the Champions League in his managerial career, with his last appearance at that stage being in 2013.
Inter have nothing left to fight for now except the Coppa Italia and the Scudetto, and so he must now prove to be a dominant force in Italy, justifying his incredibly high salary and decision to sign experienced veterans like Aleksandar Kolarov and Arturo Vidal.
Inter are currently third in the league table, five points behind rivals AC Milan and one point behind Sassuolo, who beat Benevento yesterday.
