Former Inter forward David Suazo discussed his career, the time spent with Cagliari and Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella in an interview with Italian broadcaster Inter TV before the game yesterday.
“Here in Cagliari, I spent 8 years, 4 with the Nerazzurri. I’m spent more with the Rossoblu, my heart is divided today. The beautiful thing is what both teams have transmitted to me. With Inter I saw important seasons, winning a lot. I will always thank them.”
He spoke about how difficult it is to travel to Sardinia to face Cagliari.
“At this moment the advantage is playing without the public, which in Cagliari are always particularly warm, they’re felt. When you play in Cagliari, especially in the good period they are going through, it is always difficult.
“But at the same time, if Inter play the way they know how to play, putting quality into their game, they are fearsome for anyone, even taking into account the value of the Rossoblu.”
The 41-year-old Honduran spoke about 23-year-old Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella, who permanently signed for Inter from Cagliari earlier this year.
“He is showing his skills, at Inter and on the national team. He has grown a lot with Conte, before he had certain character difficulties that should not be underestimated, almost always taking at least one yellow every game. Today he has matured and you can see Inter’s hand, a great club.”
Finally, Suazo spoke about the match itself.
“Surely it will be difficult at a mental level. The exit from Europe is very delicate and it will be felt, but Inter must give that extra push to show they can fight until the end for the Scudetto.”
The Milanese club’s 3-1 win against the Rossoblu yesterday was important as the squad needed to show a strong response after their incredibly disappointing early elimination from the Champions League earlier this week.
The Nerazzurri are currently second in the league table after 11 games, sitting on 24 points, behind rivals and league leaders AC Milan.
Their next game is against Gennaro Gattuso’s Napoli on Wednesday, a key clash considering the position of both teams in the league table.
