Inter manager Antonio Conte is aware that not winning the Scudetto with Inter this season would hurt him according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica.

In yesterday’s pre-match press conference ahead of tonight’s Serie A match with Napoli, the former Italian national team boss played down the idea of Inter having an obligation to win the league but the report insists he knows that not winning would hurt him, especially considering Juventus appointed one of his former players Andrea Pirlo as manager.

Inter are completely out of Europe and the Rome based news outlet believe that this will allow Conte to take full advantage of the players at his disposal.

Beating Napoli tonight at San Siro would both be important in terms of the league standings but also the psychological aspect as it would be Inter’s first win against a big team this term having lost to AC Milan and drawn with both Lazio and Atalanta.

Conte will likely deploy his 3-5-2 system in tonight’s match unless he opts to go with the plan B seen against Cagliari at the weekend which sees Inter go to a four man backline.
