Inter right wing-back Matteo Darmian has shared his belief that the three points picked up thanks to the narrow 1-0 win over Napoli are worth double.

Inter won the match thanks to a Romelu Lukaku penalty in the second half and it was the fifth Serie A match in a row which Inter have won.

“It wasn’t an easy game, we came up against a very strong opponent. Today’s points are worth double,” he explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV, following the full time whistle at San Siro.

He was then asked whether games such as this one are good as far as growing as a team is concerned: “Yes, they do make you grow.

“It was not easy, we knew how to suffer and we won three key points, giving a decisive signal to ourselves first of all. The results will come, we have to go one step at a time, game after game.”

The 36-time Italian national team representative then went on to speak about the penalty that he won for Inter after he was taken out by Napoli goalkeeper David Ospina during the second half.

“In these games, it’s the details that make the difference. As soon as I saw that ball I immediately jumped for it, trying to get it out of the keeper’s grip.

“It seemed clear to me from the pitch that it was a penalty and it was. It was a key episode in the game.”

In conclusion the former Manchester United player, who joined Inter from Parma in the Summer transfer window, spoke about how it will be possible to recover energy with the team still having two games to play before Christmas against Spezia and Hellas Verona.
