Noted Italian football journalist and known Inter fan Fabrizio Biasin has stated that Inter winning against a direct title competitor in Napoli in the manner that they did is important.

The match was expected to be a real spectacle as the two best attacking sides in the league locked horns but the match turned out to be anything but.

Inter won 1-0 thanks to a Romelu Lukaku penalty and perhaps rode their luck a little at the end with club captain and goalkeeper Samir Handanovic coming up with several big saves.

“In the second half Napoli were the ones who played the game, but Inter won it when they were great. Often Inter have played the matches but have not been able to win,” he began his post-match analysis during Italian broadcaster Italia 1 show Pressing, after the match at San Siro.

Biasin then went on to stress the importance of the three points that Inter have picked up, points that have brought them to within one point of top spot after city rivals and current Serie A leaders AC Milan drew 2-2 with Genoa.

“Inter picked up three important points, considering the fact that all the other direct rivals did not win. I have been angry with Conte for seven days, but you can’t always be critical.

“A win like this against a direct competitor with a little luck is important.”

Biasin then went on to express his belief regarding AC Milan and what they lack compared to some of the other sides in the race to be crowned Italian champions this season.

“AC Milan do not have great squad depth and could struggle in the long run compared to Inter, Juve and Napoli.”
