Romelu Lukaku will start on the bench for Inter in tomorrow’s Serie A match away to Sampdoria, according to an Italian media report.
As per the online edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, the tests Lukaku was subjected today showed no injury and he can therefore go with the team for the match and sit on the bench.
The report goes on to explain that the Belgian international will not start because Antonio Conte does not want to take any risks before the Nerazzurri’s upcoming matches against Roma and Juventus.
Reports elsewhere this evening suggest Alexis Sanchez is favourite to replace Lukaku in the starting XI, after Ivan Perisic was previously thought to be in pole position to partner Lautaro Martinez.
Lukaku, who joined Inter in the summer of 2019, has been in sublime form this season and with his goal in the 6-2 win over Crotone at the weekend, he took his total goal tally in Inter colours to a highly impressive 50 in 70 games.
Inter will be seeking a ninth straight win in Serie A at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris tomorrow, where they recorded a 3-1 win last season.
