Inter’s playing squad will be paid outstanding wages from last year on time after a meeting with the club’s board of directors.

The Nerazzurri took the decision to defer wages from July and August last year amidst financial losses following the coronavirus pandemic, but have plans in place to pay those, as reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Despite ongoing financial concerns at the club, Inter remain committed to meeting the deadline of February 16 agreed with the players to pay off those outstanding amounts and there is no concern that this will not be met.

Sporting director Beppe Marotta met with the team to confirm this and reassure them that payments would be made within the next month.

Similarly, outstanding transfer fees are not expected to be affected, including the next instalment of Achraf Hakimi’s transfer from Real Madrid last summer. Inter reached an agreement with their Spanish counterparts to defer this payment until March and remain unconcerned about any issues surrounding it.
