Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has conceded that the Bianconeri deserved to lose the Derby d’Italia against Inter last week, but responded well to win the Supercoppa Italiana on Wednesday.

The title holders fell to a 2-0 defeat to Inter at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza courtesy of goals from Arturo Vidal and Nicolo Barella, but went on to lift the Supercoppa Italiana with a 1-0 win over Napoli.

Speaking to Italian television broadcaster DAZN ahead of Juventus’ 2-0 win over Bologna in Serie A yesterday, Paratici admitted that his side were not good enough against Inter but was pleased with their mentality afterwards.

“Losing in Milan against Inter but then going on to lift another trophy, our eighteenth in recent years, gave me great satisfaction,” Paritici declared.

“We play every three days and try to adapt to each match. We have almost always succeeded in this, but in some situations, such as against Inter, we haven’t been good enough.”

Juventus’ victory over Bologna saw them move into fourth in the Serie A table, just five points behind second-placed Inter with a game in hand. The Bianconeri, meanwhile, took advantage of leaders AC Milan’s heavy defeat to Atalanta on Saturday and are only seven points off the top.
