Inter are continuing to work on contract renewals for two of their most promising young players, Lautaro Martinez and Alessandro Bastoni, according to an Italian media report today.

As per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, the Nerazzurri intend to hand both players an improved salary but neither Lautaro nor Bastoni will immediately reap the benefits of their new deal.

Given Inter’s precarious financial situation, they will not be able to receive their increased wages for this season, but will instead have the extra money spread across the following season.

This is to ensure Inter do not increase their wage bill for the current financial year, which is expected to be concluded with another heavy loss due to COVID-19 complications.

Inter have met several times with Lautaro Martinez’s agents as of late but are yet to reach an agreement with the forward’s representatives, as per Sky Sport Italia.

The Nerazzurri have also had several meetings with Bastoni’s agent Tulio Tinti and as per FCInterNews.it, the defender’s renewal will be finalised once owners Suning given the green light for further investments to be made.
