Inter have not received any suitable offers for Christian Eriksen in January, according to an Italian newspaper report today.
Eriksen has been widely linked with a potential departure but as per Tuttosport’s print edition, no club has been willing to take Eriksen on a fee-paying loan while paying all of his wages, which was the only kind of loan proposal the Nerazzurri were prepared to accept.
A report from Gianluca Di Marzio last night contradicts the Turin-based publication’s story, arguing that Leicester City offered Inter a €4 million loan as well as full coverage of Eriksen’s salary, before talks fell through due to fiscal complications with the midfielder’s wages.
In any case, following Eriksen’s stoppage-time winner in the Coppa Italia against AC Milan on Tuesday, Inter coach Antonio Conte closed the door on the Dane’s exit by telling reporters he was still part of the club’s project.
Eriksen scored Inter’s winning goal against the Rossoneri with a free-kick in the 97th minute and it could mark the turning point of his career in Italy.
The 28-year-old has started speaking in Italian recently and while it has only been a few words, it shows that he certainly does not lack the desire to try and fit in at Inter, where things have gone far from to plan for him in the last 12 months.
