Inter boss Antonio Conte has three reasons to be optimistic heading into tomorrow’s Coppa Italia semi-final first leg clash at home to Juventus, according to an Italian newspaper report.
As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition, the first piece of good news is that Lautaro Martinez is back among the goals after getting himself on the scoresheet against Benevento, beaten 4-0 by the Nerazzurri on Saturday, after several weeks without finding the back of the net.
The second piece of good news is the re-emergence of Christian Eriksen, who has gone from being branded as ‘non-functional’ to Conte’s team by chief executive Beppe Marotta to looking like a new signing in a matter of games.
Eriksen has been playing as a regista in recent games since Conte informed him of his intention to try him in a new position, and the feedback has been encouraging so far with another impressive display against Pippo Inzaghi’s side last weekend.
The third piece of good news is that the Nerazzurri defence is back to being solid, with Inter having not conceded a goal in their last three league matches.
Inter’s only goal conceded in their last four games in all competitions was against AC Milan in last week’s Coppa Italia quarter-finals, but as the Milanese publication noted it was virtually the only time they came under pressure from the Rossoneri during the entire game.
