After their bitter argument in the Coppa Italia last month, Inter striker Romelu Lukaku and AC Milan counterpart Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be available for the Derby della Madonnina in two weeks.
The former Manchester United teammates engaged in a furious argument shortly before half-time during Inter’s 2-1 victory over Milan in the Coppa Italia Quarter-Final and had to be separated by teammates.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, an investigation into the conduct of the pair is unlikely to lead to lengthy bans,
Ibrahimovic was questioned over his suggestions that Lukaku practiced “voodoo” yesterday, but charges of racism have not been filed and the Swede is likely to avoid a 10 day ban, or worse, for his comments.
Meanwhile, the disciplinary commission may look to pursue a charge of unsportsmanlike conduct for both players, but this would only lead to a minimum two-match ban in the Coppa Italia, to be served next season.
Given the charges presented and any appeal process, neither player is likely to face any suspension prior to the Derby della Madonnina in Serie A on February 21.
